It's Your Money!
When elected, Todd will usher in Clarity and Common Sense
Todd's childhood was filled with joy as he grew up with two sisters. One of his two sisters, Robin, was a handicapped child. He believes much about life can be learned through the gift of a “challenged” individual. Todd’s soft spoken and gentle nature are the result of emulating his mother’s tireless care for Robin, while adventure and discovery were encouraged through hiking all of the highest mountains of New England with Karen, his other sibling and his father, Dale. At 77, his dad continues a Public Accountant career as Controller for a private firm in Boston.

Todd graduated with an Accounting Degree from Champlain College, Burlington, VT. He enjoyed participating in downhill ski racing on the collegiate team. With an education under his belt, he headed west achieving a desire held since his childhood days of wearing a cowboy hat and holster, as all boys did.
After a few summers working as a whitewater rafting guide in Alaska, Colorado and Utah (with side trips and competitions in Russia and Guatemala) and wintering on ski patrol in the Lake Tahoe area, Todd put his carpentry skills to work for his income. In 1985, at 27, he started his own construction business. Todd had an excellent reputation for talent, business sense and work ethic, which lead to development offers in Reno, NV.
After marrying his wife, Maureen, they headed to Idaho, to provide a wholesome upbringing for their children. Todd’s log home building business grew and name recognition brought many new and artistic projects. Recently, logs became more difficult to obtain for himself and other local log builders’ needs. Todd continually researched and invested into his business , which lead to purchasing state and federal timber sales . Efficient as ever, Todd was able to both harvest the timber and provide not only a source of logs for his own trade, but supplied product for his competitors as well.
The local economy was helped by Todd providing jobs in the forest and on the construction site. Hiking the forest at 5am, falling trees and then heading back to do office work was a full and productive day. Unfortunately, this all came to an end alongside many others who felt the economic impact of skyrocketing fuel prices and the downward economic trend.
After direct contract with the Idaho Land Board practices, he saw solvable problems. Not being one to shirk responsibility, Todd found a way to make a difference – to help fellow Idahoans and the country he knew and cherished from his youth. Todd's son, Alex has been a source of inspiration . Alex enlisted in the Army as an infantryman. It took almost a year to finish a 14 week course because of a medical discharge and then a forced medical leave. The virtues of fortitude and courage have taken Alex to the desert of Afghanistan, where he now risks his very life for his fellow Americans.
Today, Todd has embarked on a campaign for Idaho State Controller. His son’s boots are on the ground in a foreign land, believing that it is his turn to take up arms to defend the country. Todd believes it is his responsibility, indeed duty, to do what he can to ensure the Freedoms which our Fore Fathers, brothers and sons fight and die for. As Idaho State Controller, Todd wants to give people their voices back .
The Freedom Trail, located in Boston Massachusetts, has lead Todd to the sweeping skies of the west. But as Americans have always known, Freedom is never free. The people of America are charged with protecting this rich heritage and Todd Hatfield will do his part, with help, to protect it.
